Let's Get Politcal, Politcal

I wanna get politicalllllllllll let me here your money talk...

Ok..song is over.

I HATE politics as I have already made clear, but how can one NOT think about politics this year?  Every damn thing you hear is about it.  So, I have been doing a lot of thinking.

I want to address somethings...but only with ONE rule..NONE of this has anything to do with anyone that I communicate with in anyway! I am not pointing fingers at anyone I know, either online or offline, unless I specifically say so. And another rule...(ok..I lied..2 rules).  ANY comments that I receive that are bashing in anyway towards anyone(whether be me or a commenter) will be deleted.  Debate is ok, but bashing is not. Ok..Everyone understand the rules?? Good.

First, my belief is that NEITHER candidate is living in this country or something.  They say that they care what is on the minds of the people(like Joe the plumber, who rumor has it, isn't even registered), but when it comes down to it...it is all about taxation.  I challenge either of these candidates to come sit at my table.  I will tell them what REALLY is on the mind of the poor, the single mother, the college student, the college graduate(because I am both a graduate and a student), the unemployed, the person that is scared.  It isn't about taxation or what they can do for me in the next 4 years..it is what they can do for me NOW.(Ok..maybe that isn't everyone...but it is for me!).  How in the world am I going to pay for gas to go to school when (notice..when..not if) the gas prices go back up, how am I going to get my child a good education, when I will be afraid for her to go to school, not to mention that teachers are teaching to test it seems anymore, or everything has to be so damned politically correct, how am I suppose to get the proper medical help with medicaid when they do not want to pay for specific tests that could solve all her medical problems.  Senator McCain, Senator Obama, knock on my door...I'll listen to you, and ask you questions, and tell you what I think.  Because I am one of those who is voting for Mickey Mouse this year, because NEITHER of you are worthy of my vote.

Second..what the hell is it with people who support a specific party? I mean really..I have only heard one occurrence of bad outburst from McCain's supporters, but tons from Obama's supporters. One guy in the area I live in, had a McCain sign in his yard.  He was standing outside doing yardwork, when a guy drove by screaming his head off with very rude and vulgar obscenities at the man because he supports McCain.  Another occurrence was where there were people carrying signs somewhere and people were standing around shouting vulgarities at them.(I guess this is on youtube??)  What the hell?? Is this what our country has come to??  There used to be a time when you could drive around with support stickers on your car, but now..you have to be worried about being run off the road because of them.  These, my friends, are future leaders in our country. (heavy sigh).

Now...on a less nasty note..I have found, that once someone has decided on who they like for whatever reason, instead of listening and thinking about what the opposing candidate has to say, the ears shut off!  I am so not like this.  I want to hear both sides of the story.  I mean really...is it possible that we are missing something important that the other person has to say?

Reporters piss me off.  Actually, not reporters specifically but the general media.  Many of them are endorsing candidates, which is fine...but why not quit trying to persuade others for supporting who they think.  Recently 2 Ohio newspapers have came out and said that they are supporting one of the candidates, umm why?  Come on...why can't our media be bipartisan?  Is it really that bad.  I will admit that the local(small town) newspaper has listed the issues that are going to be on our ballot.  I was impressed because, they provided the complete wording of the bill, an explanation of the bill, and then...they gave a column for supporters, and opponents to explain how they felt about that bill.  I LOVE IT!  This is the way it SHOULD be.  Let the people decide what they want to decide, without being swayed by the media.

One last thing...debates.  Debates are a waste of time and money! Tell me what you are going to do, to make things better for me...dont tell me what the result is of what you are going to do.  Because I know, things are easier said then done.  Give me proof..give me insight...otherwise, don't waste my time.

As a born and raised Republican, I would typically go for the lesser of the 2 evils and end up with McCain, but this time...I can't even do that.  I do have to admit that I thought it was hilarious at last nights debates that McCain called Obama out on many things.  Some people said they didn't care about these things, but I did.  If you are going to lie, or over exaggerate your plans...then you need to be called out.  If you say one thing and do another..you need to be called out.  Do it publicly, do it in front of the person, just don't make up a commercial that does it.  A coward will not confront his opponent face to face.  So there was no reason why these things shouldn't have been addressed.(I am not saying McCain is innocent!  He is just as guilty).

We really need to quit these games that both opponents are playing.  He said, she said, he did, she did.  I care about here, now, the future...not yesterday.  Although on a side note, I think it would be cool to have a lady as a VP.

BTW...if 250K/year is middle class..then I am in trouble when I get my nursing license, because I will be dirt poor...now how does that make sense?

I was just being honest...

My mom and I have a habit since the invention of caller ID.  We don't answer the phone unless we know who the number or name is.  This protects us from my bill collectors telemarketers.  I mean...who is really going to answer a call from Market Probe. However, they really need to make it better to show things like "Crazy ex husband who wants you dead", or "another one of your brother's girlfriends"..so that the local calls with no name, will tell us who it is.

My father on the other hand, apparently thinks that Market Probe must have the answers to life's most important questions, so he answers them...all of them.  And he doesn't hesitate to get the person they are asking for on the phone for them. Thank goodness he is usually not home when I am...except for this past Sunday.

We got a call..and to be honest, I am not sure what the caller ID said...and dad answered it.  Now, I use my cell phone as my home number now..so that my calls do not come through the house and bug them.  When he hands me the phone, I know this can't be good.  So I answer....

Me:  Hello?

Lady: Hi this is so and so from the so and so elections.  We were wondering if you have considered who you are voting for yet?

Me:  Yep...Mickey Mouse..I don't like either candidate.

Lady: (obviously caught off guard): Well..I'd like to say that I am voting for Senator Obama and I think he will do great things for our country.

Me(thinking....well duh..that would be why you would vote for him, you wouldn't vote for him if you thought that the world was going to implode if he is elected):  Umm ok

Lady: I would like to encourage you to consider him to be your next president.

Me: We will see.

Lady:  Ok...thank you for your time <CLICK>

Now...at this point I shook my head and thought <sigh>"I hate getting phone calls..especially political ones..since I just LOVE politics(insert eye roll here)".

Wouldn't you know it...Dad had went outside...RINGGGG...So I have to get up from watching cartoons a History channel exclusive to answer.

Me: Hello?
Lady: Hi this is so and so from some elections.  Is ________insert my mom's name there?
Me:  No..she is not
Lady:  Thank you.

The way I see it...my mom owes me...big time.

Politics.....

Even the word makes me sick to my stomach.

I am not about politics and I never will be. No, it has nothing to do with the fact that I don't care...It has nothing to do with that I want change and things to get better....and it has nothing to do with whether I believe the war in Iraq is going on too long, or should have not gone at all. It has to do with the fact that I dont believe.

I dont believe in the political mind. I will not endure listening to the words come out of the candidates mouths at all their stops along the way in America...I may start to listen a little in the beginning and at the end..and catch a few things here and there in the news, but that is it! You know why??? I DONT BELIEVE THEM! I have to make my decision based on what the believe..not what they promise.

They try to make you believe that they are going to change the prices of gas, the war in Iraq, the economy, or even their own underwear....but until you see it...You can not believe it. Period. And it isnt that you can not believe it because they are dishonest...but I think many of them are just so misguided in their belief that when they open that door to the White House they are king of the world...But alas...they are not. Strongly influenticial yes...but can they do everything they promise?? Absolutely not.

You have to remember that in order for anything to come down the line whether it is from bills, budget cuts and increases, spending, or whether the White House should be painted a horrible shade of chartreuse(although in my opinion...chartreuse is a horrible color all together...but ya know...personal opinion...) it MUST go through Congress. That is right...promise me a dollar..but unless Congress says ok...it isnt going to happen! And to be honest and play both sides to this...Congress can not do anything without Presidential say so....Checks and balances.

Now...another reason I dont believe what I hear from the candidates is because not only are they really limited on what they CAN do, that they promise they will do....but as outsiders(with the exception of congressional people trying to become President...or a President trying to get reelected), there are not privy to information that the President has access to. Though even those candidates who do spend time in Congress...I dont believe that many have ALL the information either.

Which leads to one other point...American citizens have a right to expression..and I am truly glad for that(so dont pound me down in comments..cuz I can express too! LOL :P). But I feel that often times many people get up in arms about stuff that they just dont know. FOR INSTANCE...(example only...don't attack me)...The Iraq war...many people are protesting that we should not be there...that we have no right there...that we need to leave NOW....This is great and I am glad that people are using their freedom of expression, but do we really know everything?? My stand on it...I dont know! If I knew what the real, right answer was...I'd be God..not Dawn.

My brother who served in Iraq During 05 and was almost killed in a car explosion hitting his humvee, but his friend did die. You can read about it here if you didnt see it before... You would think that when he got out he would be all about getting out of Iraq...Though he did not want to go back...he feels that the US leaving Iraq out of the blue right now would be the biggest mistake to do. And I knew exactly where he was going with this..and he did...Because if we leave things undone(which I THINK is what Obama wants to do(also, I do not know what exactly everyone else wants to do)..but I could be wrong..), basically pull out and bring everyone home...we will be returning for another WAR a few years down the road as the insurgents become more in numbers again. There would be a HUGE civil war..with many more casualties as some of the operations we are still carrying out now. This is a matter of opinion..but since my brother was there..and he experienced it...I believe he has a better understand then me, who has never been there. Im not saying he is right or wrong...but I respect it. But I must regress....

The main point to this whole flippin post is....Just because someone promises you a change that you like the sound of...does not mean he/she can actually make that change happen. They may be able to encourage it..but when it comes down to it..I feel that the members in Congress have more say and pull then does the President. I think the more important things is HOW they want to get the change...HOW they are going to convince congress to approve what he/she wants to do...and most importantly....what he/she wants to do that would help in getting us out of Iraq and just freaking to admit to everyone that though some of the information is still not available to them...but based on what they know....they want to do this or that.

OK Let the beatings begin.
